One of the most important storylines in the X-Men universe revolves around Phoenix and the incredible power that lies locked up in Jean Grey. This is explored in the latest X-Men movie – Dark Phoenix, which now has a trailer.

Here’s what we know. During a rescue mission in space, Jean (Sophie Turner, Game of Thrones) is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean spirals out of control, hurting the ones she loves most. Now, with the X-Men family falling apart, they must find a way to unite, not only to save Jean's soul, but to save our planet from aliens who wish to weaponise this force and rule the galaxy.

The X-Men franchise can be hit and miss, and steering Dark Phoenix in hopefully the right direction is Simon Kinberg, who is best known as a producer and is making his directorial debut with this.

You would need to wait a bit before Dark Phoenix hits the big screen, with the movie only set to hit the big screen in February next year. From the trailer below we can’t say we’re utterly convinced that this will be one of thé superhero movies for 2019. Perhaps future trailers will convince us otherwise.
