LG Electronics this week unveiled its brand new P530 'Blade' notebook in the country, the first of the series to see a local release.

The LG Blade series is a line of ultra-slim notebooks which aims to supply users with a performance rich computing experience in addition to being some of the thinnest devices around.

The P530 will boast a 15.6” LED LCD display and will show off a super-slim bezel and body, culminating in a stylish and compact device. The P530 has a depth of just 4.7 mm, which according to LG is 50% thinner than any other notebook in its class.

The device weighs a very manageable 2.2 kg and is more durable than your average super-slim device, seeing as it features a metal casing. The device is finished in attractive and resilient brushed aluminium which has been diamond cut to ensure a smooth, high quality feel.

Underneath its skin the P530 is also highly capable, with a second generation Intel Core i7 CPU and a dedicated Nvidia GeForce GT520M GPU seeing service.

The device also includes a 1.3 MP webcam and is available in either Misty Blue or Titan Black.

“The Blade series is the fruition of many months of effort by LG engineers and designers to develop portable computers that deliver beyond the performance, looks and value that today's consumers have come to expect,” said Michael Bang, LG South Africa general marketing manager.

The LG P530 will be available locally from August 2011 for a recommended retail price of R6 999.
