Huawei unveils AI-powered solutions at MWC 2025 in Barcelona
By Staff Writer 4 March 2025 | Categories: news
At Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, Huawei announced the company’s latest innovations in AI and 5G-Advanced (5G-A) technologies, allowing for new AI-powered services in mobile connectivity.
During his keynote address yesterday, Li Peng, Huawei’s corporate senior VP and President of ICT Sales & Service, emphasised how the convergence of AI and 5G-A can push not only the growth of mobile AI, but also double-digit growth in data usage (DOU) and average revenue per user (ARPU).
Li underscored the transformative power of AI in reshaping mobile networks, stating, “We’re rapidly entering a fully intelligent world. By embracing and evolving 5G, we can unlock the infinite potential of mobile networks.” Huawei asked for collaboration with global carriers and industry partners to promote digital enablement and reinforce network infrastructure.
AI-powered cloud phones, personalised AI avatars, and AI-powered voice assistants will demand lower latency, requiring network upgrades from 5G NSA to 5G SA and eventually 5G-A. Carriers can also adopt new technologies like Control and User Plane Separation (CUPS) and Guaranteed Bit Rate (GBR) to achieve real-time interactions.
The World’s First AI Core Network
Which brings us to some of Huawei's new announcements, set to advance network infrastructure globally and create carrier monetisation opportunities. George Gao, president of Huawei Cloud Core Network Product Line, introduced the industry’s first AI Core Network. Through this, Huawei’s infrastructure moves beyond AI-powered systems to AI-native networks capable of self-optimisation and autonomous operation.

Huawei’s AI Core Network will be rolled out in two phases. The initial 5G-A Intelligent Core will integrate AI agents to enhance network intelligence and computing power. The subsequent Agentic Core, based on Huawei’s AI-based architecture (AIBA), will create a fully autonomous generative network that dynamically adapts to real-time service demands.
Huawei's 5G-A Intelligent Core introduced three AI agents:
Calling agents: Transform traditional dial pads into AI-driven task managers, enabling multimodal service interactions.
Personalised experience agents: Dynamically allocate network resources for tailored user experiences, opening new revenue opportunities.
Digital expert agents: There to resolve complaints and alarms via natural language interaction, helping to automate O&M processes, improving efficiency and troubleshooting response times.
Supporting these agents is Huawei’s Telco Intelligent Converged Cloud, which upgrades traditional infrastructure with AI-driven computing resources and the FusionMind AI enablement platform for high-performance AI training and inference services.
“The AI core network will become a critical telecom infrastructure in the mobile AI era,” said Gao. “Huawei is committed to working with telecom operators to harness AI’s potential and accelerate the transition to an intelligent world.”
AI-Ready Data Storage
Another product was launched Dr. Peter Zhou, president of Huawei Data Storage Product Line, detailed the importance of AI-ready data storage in a possible golden era of data brought about due to the impact of AI in different industries. With AI driving demand for high-speed data processing, Huawei introduced AI-ready data lake solutions, flash storage and enhanced object storage for seamless cloud-native and AI applications.

Huawei’s next-generation OceanStor storage solutions, including the OceanStor Dorado and OceanStor Pacific, promise financial-grade reliability, exabyte-level scalability and energy efficiency to support AI-driven services such as live streaming and extended reality (XR) gaming. Additionally, the OceanProtect All-Flash Backup Storage offers five times faster data recovery, ensuring robust data protection for critical AI applications, according to Huawei.
To address the growing challenges in AI adoption by carriers, Huawei launched the DCS AI Solution, a one-stop toolchain for data preparation, model training, and AI application development. The company also introduced the FlashEver business model, enabling seamless upgrades and investment protection for carriers adapting to AI advancements.
