Don’t steal my moves. That’s what rapper 2 Milly is telling the folks over at Epic Games. Variety is reporting that the rapper is suing Epic Games for using his sway in a dance emote for the highly popular Fortnite Battle Royale. 2 Milly dubbed his dance Milly Rock, with the dance emote appearing in Fortnite Season Five under the title, “Swipe It”.

If Milly Rock is to be believed, swiping it is indeed what Epic Games did, claiming that he wasn’t compensated or asked for permission for his dance styling. Indeed, with Fortnite Battle Royale free to play, the company is making millions through selling skins and emotes to its massive player-base.

Fortnite does not have a happy history with their Dance Emotes, with Scrubs actor Donald Faison also tweeting his concern about some of his moves being used. In our humble opinion, Faison’s moves are much slicker than the Milly Rock, although, as 2 Milly states, the rapper can do his dance anywhere.

Voices of Color by Insider (see video below) noted that according to an intellectual property lawyer, it’s not possible to copyright dance steps. However, the U.S. Copyright Office does secure “choreographic work”. Whether the Milly Rock falls under this protection is for the courts to decide.
