A new Hellboy coming, but not from Del Toro
By Mike Joubert 11 May 2017 | Categories: newsGood news and bad news for Hellboy fans. Let’s start with the positive - there’s a new Hellboy movie on the way. The negative? Well, it’s not the final film in Guillermo Del Toro’s trilogy, nor will it feature the man that was born to play the boy from hell - Ron Perlman.
Ok, so that is quite a bit to process emotionally, but let’s work through this. Mike Mignola posted on his Facebook page that an R-rated (2-18) Hellboy reboot has been confirmed, with Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game Of Thrones) sitting in the director’s chair. One of the writers on the new movie, Andrew Cosby (alongside Mignola and Christopher Golden) spoke to Silver Screen Beat and said that director Levin wanted to, “walk a razor’s edge between horror and comic book movie,” and that the script is actually done, although they will continue to work on it going forward.
We can’t say that we’re not a bit disappointed to get to see that final Del Toro instalment, but anyways, hell yeah for the Hellboy reboot. Now for that new Spawn movie we’ve been dreaming about...
